The lighting technique that I used was broad lighting. As the main light illuminates the side of the face that is angled away from the camera . This helps he emphasize the facial textures but still creates a nice photo. To get broad lighting I had to face the main light toward the closer side of the face and the fill light toward the back.

I chose my photo because it was a very simple picture that showed the distinct foreground, middle ground and background. To build it, I first printed out three of the same photos. Then, I had to cut out a piece of foam core that matched the shape of the whole photo. After that I use and Exacto knife to cut out the middle ground. This included the dragon with the concrete cylinders. Then I had to cut out the foreground, or dragon, to complete the three dimensions. To give the photo the dimensions I glued scraps of foam core behind each cut out to make them stick out from the background. I liked the end result because it made the photo come to life and look better than just using a shallow depth of field.
